Apple to unveil iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and first foldable model on Sept. 9

Apple plans to introduce its next-generation iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a first foldable iPhone at its annual fall event on Wednesday, September 9. The presentation will carry the tagline “Surprise and shine.”

The Pro models are expected to retain the overall look of the iPhone 17 Pro but may feature a smoother rear casing with reduced contrast between glass and aluminum. The larger iPhone 18 Pro Max could house a 5,100-5,200 mAh battery, making the device slightly thicker and heavier.

Apple may shrink the Dynamic Island by relocating some Face ID components beneath the display. The displays are rumored to use a more power-efficient LTPO+ panel supplied by Samsung Display and LG Display.

A new A20 Pro processor built on TSMC’s 2 nm process and employing wafer-level multi-chip module technology is slated to improve performance and power efficiency. The devices could also include Apple’s next-generation C2 cellular modem, though mmWave support may be absent and Qualcomm modems might remain in use for the U.S. market.

Camera upgrades may include a three-layer stacked sensor from Samsung, a variable aperture on the 48-megapixel Fusion camera, and a redesigned pressure-sensing camera control button. New color options under consideration are Light Blue, Dark Cherry and Silver, with no Black finish expected.

The iPhone 18 Pro line will ship with iOS 27, featuring an enhanced Siri AI experience and expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities. Pre-orders are rumored to start on Saturday, September 12, with sales beginning the following Friday. A standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 are slated for a spring 2027 release, while the foldable “iPhone Ultra” is covered in a separate roundup.
