Dave Bautista intensifies workout for upcoming Prime Video 'God of War' series

Summary

Actor Dave Bautista posted a video showing his renewed muscle building as he prepares to portray Kratos in the live-action adaptation of the video-game franchise, which resumes filming in Vancouver this fall.

Actor Dave Bautista shared an Instagram video on Wednesday displaying his latest physical training as he readies for the role of Kratos in Prime Video’s live-action adaptation of the popular video-game series. In the post, he noted that he is in the third week of weight training and expects to continue for another two months to reach his target physique.

The former WWE wrestler, who previously slimmed down for film projects such as "The Killer’s Game" and "The Wrecking Crew," appears to be adding bulk again for the part. Bautista was announced last month as the replacement for Ryan Hurst, who suffered a bicep injury during a stunt, and will lead a cast that includes Callum Vinson, Mandy Patinkin, Ed Skrein and others.

The series, overseen by showrunner Ronald D. Moore, follows the mythic father-son duo Kratos and Atreus on a journey to scatter the ashes of their mother, while exploring themes of divinity and humanity. Production is slated to resume in Vancouver this fall.
