Attorney seeks bond hearing for teen charged with aggravated sexual offenses in Georgia
A 15-year-old boy arrested on felony aggravated sodomy and sexual battery charges has had his lawyer file a request for a bond hearing, highlighting his academic and athletic record and family ties.
An attorney for KJ Biermann, a 15-year-old detained in Fulton County, filed a petition on Wednesday asking a Superior Court judge to schedule a bond hearing. Biermann has been held at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center since his August 17 arrest on felony aggravated sodomy and felony aggravated sexual battery charges.
"The accused turned 15 years old in May. He is a high school student in good standing who has demonstrated strong academic achievement and regularly participates in extracurricular and community-based activities," the filing said.
The petition cites the teen’s football accomplishments, scholarship offers, and extensive family and community connections, arguing that these factors provide supervision and accountability. It also notes that Biermann voluntarily took a polygraph test, which the attorney says showed no deception on questions related to the alleged conduct.
The filing requests that future case developments be sealed and that courtroom proceedings be closed to protect the juvenile’s privacy, citing extensive social-media attention.
According to police records, the allegations stem from an April incident at a local fitness center where a female classmate accused Biermann of sexual assault in a co-ed sauna. The complainant reported that he attempted to force sexual acts despite her refusals. She was examined the following day, and the medical report indicated no male DNA was found.
Biermann’s mother, reality-TV personality Kim Zolciak, described the accusations as "reckless and deeply troubling" and warned that false claims can have serious consequences. No comment was obtained from the boy’s father, Kroy Biermann.
