Georgia teen seeks bond, citing academic and athletic scholarships
Kroy Biermann Jr., a high school student charged with sexual assault, has asked a Georgia judge to release him on bond, emphasizing his school performance, scholarships and community ties.
A Georgia court heard a bond request on Wednesday for Kroy Biermann Jr., a high-school student facing a criminal case involving an alleged sexual assault. His attorneys argued that he is not a flight risk, noting his status as a student in good standing who has earned academic honors and athletic scholarships.
"He is a high school student in good standing who has demonstrated strong academic achievement and is receiving scholarships for his athletic prowess," the filing said.
The petition also highlighted the teen's connections to family, siblings, friends, coaches and teachers as evidence of his stability in the community. According to the filing, Biermann learned of the allegations in April, has remained in the state and even submitted to a polygraph examination, though details of the questions were not disclosed.
In addition to the bond request, the defense asked that the proceedings remain confidential, citing the juvenile status of both the accused and the alleged victim and the extensive media coverage surrounding the case.
