Powerball Jackpot Reaches $950 Million After No Winner in Latest Drawing
The Powerball jackpot has increased to an estimated $950 million for the upcoming Saturday drawing, following no grand prize winner in Wednesday's draw.
The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $950 million for the upcoming Saturday drawing, following no grand prize winner in Wednesday's draw. The winning numbers for Wednesday, August 27, were 9, 12, 22, 41, 61, with a Powerball of 25. The Power Play multiplier was 4.
This marks the 39th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner since May 31, 2025, when a ticket in California claimed a $204.5 million prize. The current $950 million jackpot ranks as the sixth-largest in Powerball history. The largest was a $2.04 billion prize won in California on November 7, 2022.
In Wednesday's drawing, six tickets matched all five white balls, earning $1 million each. These were sold in Arizona, New York, and Virginia. Additionally, three tickets in Mississippi, Ohio, and Virginia included the Power Play option, doubling their winnings to $2 million. There were also 40 tickets that won $50,000 prizes and ten tickets that won $200,000 prizes.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. Drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
If a player wins Saturday's jackpot, they can choose between an annuitized prize of $950 million, paid over 30 years, or a lump sum payment of $428.9 million. Both options are before taxes.
"Powerball ticket sales have doubled in the past week, as more players join the fun with a $2 ticket, while also giving back to good causes in their communities," said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO.
The Powerball game has generated over $36 billion for good causes supported by U.S. lotteries since its first drawing in 1992.
