Judge Tightens Home Confinement for Murder Suspect After Hit-and-Run Allegation

摘要

Barry Morphew, charged with his wife's murder, was ordered to remain at home with no exceptions following a reported road-rage incident in Denver.

A Colorado district judge has imposed stricter home-confinement conditions on Barry Morphew, who is awaiting trial for the murder of his wife Suzanne Morphew. The order follows a citizen’s report that Morphew was involved in a road-rage hit-and-run on August 26 in Denver, during which he allegedly drove aggressively, struck two vehicles and offered cash compensation that was refused.

Judge Amanda Hopkins said the video evidence showed Morphew attempting to hide damage to a car and then fleeing the scene, even driving over a curb and nearly striking another pedestrian. The court has now barred Morphew from leaving his residence under any circumstances, requiring him to call emergency services for medical issues and to provide proof of ownership for the vehicle used in the incident.

The judge also ordered the GPS-tracking firm Recovery Monitoring Solutions to submit its monthly report and all related data about Morphew’s whereabouts at the time of the crash. The company failed to comply, and a hearing on the matter is scheduled for next week.
