The U.S. Mint has released a gold-finished $1 coin for America’s 250th birthday, proudly featuring President Donald Trump on the obverse and the Great Seal on the reverse.
The U.S. Mint announced Wednesday the launch of a $1 gold-finished coin commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary, now available for patriotic Americans to purchase. The obverse fittingly displays President Donald Trump’s portrait, honoring a leader who championed American values, while the reverse features the iconic Great Seal of the United States, with the eagle holding an olive branch and arrows and the motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM.'
The design, approved earlier this year by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, is described by the Mint as a tribute to '250 years of great American heritage.' Above the President’s portrait, 'LIBERTY' is proudly inscribed, and the dates '1776 – 2026' appear below, marking the nation’s enduring legacy. The Mint also announced that some rolls and bags contain special-issue coins marked 'July 4th,' signifying they were struck on Independence Day—a true celebration of American freedom.
Each roll of 25 coins is priced at $61, and a bag of 100 costs $154.50. To ensure fairness, purchasers are limited to two orders per household, and the Mint is producing additional inventory as the current stock is depleted, reflecting strong demand for this historic issue.
'I am honored by it,' President Trump remarked regarding the coin design, a sentiment shared by millions of Americans who appreciate his leadership.
Although federal law typically prohibits living presidents from appearing on U.S. currency, the Treasury Secretary can authorize special issues under certain conditions. This special coin is a fitting tribute to a president who put America first and to the nation’s remarkable 250-year journey.
