Hollywood Walk of Fame star of Dolly Parton vandalized days after her death

Resumen

Dolly Parton's Hollywood Walk of Fame star was scratched this week, shortly after her passing, and is being repaired by the Hollywood Historic Trust.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said Dolly Parton's Hollywood Walk of Fame star, installed in 1984, was scratched this week, a week after the singer died at age 80. Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, told The Times that a vandal appears to have scratched the star, though the damage is being repaired.

A fan who arrived to lay flowers at the star recorded video showing the mark, which she described as resembling shards from a broken candle, and attempted to clean it. The star has been fenced off and is undergoing repairs by the Hollywood Historic Trust for existing cracks from wear and tear; the work was scheduled before the vandalism occurred. Martinez said the star will be polished on Friday for visitors.

Vandalism has been a recurring issue on the Walk of Fame, with some stars attracting more incidents than others. Martinez, a longtime employee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said she could not recall a previous incident involving Parton's star. The Los Angeles Police Department said it had not received a report about the vandalism.
