Guerrero Jr. hits eighth homer, sparks hope for Blue Jays' playoff push
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. recorded his eighth home run of the season, prompting optimism for Toronto's bid for an AL wild-card spot.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a three-run home run that landed in right-field bleachers, marking his eighth long ball of the 2026 season. The shot came after he opened the game with an RBI double, suggesting he may be regaining his power swing.
The Toronto Blue Jays, currently vying for a third American League wild-card berth, have struggled to find consistent offense from Guerrero, who has yet to homer at the Rogers Centre this year. Team officials have noted that when Guerrero gets into a rhythm, his impact can be significant for the club's postseason aspirations.
While the home run offers a boost, the Blue Jays remain cautious, acknowledging that earlier homers this season have not translated into sustained scoring runs. The organization hopes the recent blast signals a return to the form that helped propel the team in previous postseason campaigns.
