Tiger Woods' driving license suspended, but he may still operate golf carts on courses

Resumen

A Florida court suspended Tiger Woods' driver’s license for five years after a reckless-driving plea, though state officials say he can continue to drive golf carts on private courses.

A Florida judge suspended Tiger Woods' driver’s license for five years after the golfer entered a no-contest plea to a reckless-driving charge stemming from a March rollover near his Jupiter home. The suspension does not automatically bar him from operating a golf cart on private courses, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s public information officer said that while rules vary for public roads, Woods "absolutely can drive a golf cart on a golf course." Florida Governor Ron DeSantis echoed the sentiment on social media, stating that Woods should be allowed to use a cart on the course.

Woods, 50, was originally investigated for possible DUI after his SUV clipped a truck, rolled over, and he was found with two pain pills and signs of impairment, though a breathalyzer test was negative and he declined to provide a urine sample.

During a press conference, state attorney Thomas Bakkedahl was asked whether the plea deal permits Woods to drive a golf cart, and he admitted uncertainty, noting that impaired operation of a cart on public roads would be prohibited.
