U.S. Mint releases commemorative $1 coins featuring President Trump

Summary

The United States Mint began selling a commemorative $1 coin bearing Donald Trump's portrait, with prices ranging from $61 for 25 coins to $154.50 for 100, despite the coin’s face value of one dollar.

The United States Mint announced on Wednesday that a $1 coin displaying former President Donald J. Trump is now available for purchase. The coin, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, carries the inscription "LIBERTY" above the portrait, the dates "1776 ~ 2026" below, and the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST" beside the image. Although the coins have a circulating finish, they have not been released into general circulation, but they remain legal tender.

The Mint’s online store lists a roll of 25 coins for $61 and a bag of 100 coins for $154.50, prices that exceed the coin’s face value. The product page describes the issue as a "Semiquincentennial $1 Coin" issued to mark 250 years of American heritage.

"Celebrate a historic American milestone, the official United States Mint-issued Semiquincentennial $1 Coin was struck to honor 250 years of great American heritage," the Mint’s description reads.

The White House was contacted for comment, but no response was reported.
