Evan Rachel Wood says she was not invited to reprise role in Practical Magic sequel

Resumen

The actress expressed disappointment that she was not asked to return for Practical Magic 2, while noting Joey King’s outreach, as the film recasts the original’s younger characters.

Evan Rachel Wood, who played Kylie Owens in the 1998 film Practical Magic, confirmed she was not invited to reprise her role in the sequel, Practical Magic 2. The sequel, set 25 years after the original, retains Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens but recasts the daughters: Joey King replaces Wood as Kylie, and Maisie Williams replaces Alexandra Atrip as Antonia. Wood said on Instagram Stories that she appreciated King reaching out, noting that none of the original cast had contacted her. > "I really appreciated Joey King reaching out to me, because no one who worked on the original film did," Wood said. At a recent red-carpet interview, Wood described her feelings about not being asked back, saying she was disappointed that she could not revisit the cast and setting as an adult. > "It is sad, because we bonded with that cast so much as children, and so to miss out on the opportunity to look at that cast and look at that house as an adult and see the history in our eyes, it’s something that can’t be fake," she told Entertainment Tonight.
