Woman charged with juror intimidation in high-profile murder trial
Dawn Light, 56, was charged with aggravated intimidation after taking photos of jurors outside the Plymouth courthouse during the Lindsay Clancy trial, and has pleaded not guilty.
A 56-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated intimidation of jurors after photographing them outside the Plymouth courthouse where the Lindsay Clancy murder trial is being heard. Prosecutors say Light was in a restricted area and captured images of jurors as they left the building on Tuesday, violating a court order that bars any filming or photography of jurors.
Light, a registered nurse with no prior criminal record, was ordered by Judge William Sullivan to stay away from the courthouse and from anyone associated with the case, and to refrain from distributing the images. She entered a not-guilty plea at her arraignment.
"This is a complete misunderstanding, Your Honour. My client was trying to get a picture of Ms Clancy," said attorney Jennifer White.
During the hearing, Light responded to a reporter’s question about her interest in the case with, "Why not?" Prosecutors said a review of her phone’s deleted files revealed the juror photos, leading to her arrest.
The trial, which involves charges that Clancy killed her three children, has attracted extensive media coverage and public attention, prompting the court to implement heightened security measures to protect the proceedings.
