U.S. Mint launches gold-colored $1 Trump coins with prices from $1.55 to $2.44
The U.S. Mint began selling gold-colored $1 coins featuring President Donald Trump on Wednesday, offering them in rolls of 25 for $61 and bags of 100 for $154.50.
The United States Mint started selling gold-colored one-dollar coins bearing former President Donald J. Trump’s likeness at noon Eastern Time on Wednesday. Prices range from about $1.55 to $2.44 per coin, depending on the quantity purchased. A roll of 25 coins is priced at $61, while a bag of 100 costs $154.50.
The obverse side displays a portrait of Trump with the legends "Liberty," "In God We Trust" and "1776 ~ 2026." The reverse features the presidential seal, an eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, and the inscription "250" to mark the nation’s semiquincentennial. Although U.S. law generally restricts living persons from appearing on currency, the Mint cited a 2020 statute that permits new designs for the 250th-anniversary commemorations.
"Created to celebrate this historic national milestone, these special circulating dollar coins combine everyday American coinage with a once-in-a-generation anniversary design destined to become a standout addition to modern collections," the Mint said.
The coins are copper-based, with a gold-colored finish achieved through a composition of 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel; no actual gold is used. The Mint also announced that 250,000 of the coins will include a "July 4th" privy mark, randomly placed in the rolls and bags sold on its website.
