Hollywood Walk of Fame to Replace Vandalized Dolly Parton Star
The star honoring Dolly Parton on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which had been slated for replacement due to cracks, was vandalized and will be restored with a new plaque on Sept. 4.
Hollywood officials said the Dolly Parton star on the Walk of Fame will be replaced after it was scratched and flowers were stolen. The damage was reported on Aug. 31, a few days after the singer’s death on Aug. 25, when fans had left tributes at the 1984-dedicated star. The star was already scheduled for replacement because of existing cracks, senior vice president of media and talent relations Ana Martinez told ABC 7. The Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains the Walk, posted images showing the original red star removed and a blank placeholder installed in the sidewalk. > "The Hollywood Historic Trust and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce are proud to honor the legacy of Dolly Parton with a replacement of her star," the Trust’s caption read, adding that the new star would be viewable on Friday. The replacement is expected to be unveiled on Sept. 4.
