Bill Simmons says proxy bets were voided after using daughter's boyfriend to place wagers

Resumen

Sports commentator Bill Simmons confirmed that bets placed through his daughter’s boyfriend were canceled after the Massachusetts Gaming Commission intervened, noting he had violated proxy-betting rules.

Bill Simmons disclosed on his podcast that wagers he had placed through his daughter’s boyfriend were voided after the Massachusetts Gaming Commission determined the activity violated state proxy-betting regulations. Simmons said he allowed the individual, identified as Hank, to log into his FanDuel account using a code sent to his phone, enabling the bets while Simmons was in Los Angeles, a state where sports betting is not legal.

"I let Hank log into my FanDuel as me, [sent] the code to make sure it’s me to my phone, I give him the code, he logs in," Simmons explained. He acknowledged his misunderstanding of the rules, stating, "I learned my lesson; apparently, proxy betting, not allowed. I actually thought it was, but that’s fine." The commission’s action resulted in all the bets being canceled, and Simmons said he will wait until he returns to Boston before placing new wagers. He also joked that the incident might affect his daughter’s relationship with her boyfriend. The incident follows earlier public comments by Simmons on sports betting, and he remains a partner with FanDuel despite the recent breach.
