Scottie Scheffler Overtakes Tiger Woods as PGA Tour's All-Time Earnings Leader
Scottie Scheffler moved past Tiger Woods on the PGA Tour all-time money list after winning the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup, bringing his career earnings to over $130 million.
Scottie Scheffler became the PGA Tour's leading career earner on Sunday after winning the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup at East Lake Golf Club, earning a $10 million prize. The victory lifted his total earnings to $130,390,661, surpassing Tiger Woods, who had held the top spot since February 2000 with $120,999,166. Scheffler entered the week $600,000 behind Woods and added $14.1 million in the preceding three weeks to claim the lead.
Rory McIlroy, currently second among active players, earned $1.7 million for a tied-fourth finish, bringing his career total to just over $119.5 million and keeping him within reach of Woods' former record. Analysts note that the growth of PGA Tour purses and the introduction of the FedExCup Playoffs have contributed to larger earnings for recent players. Scheffler, 30, could further extend his lead as the Tour plans to increase prize funds in upcoming championship series.
