Florida sees multiple multi-million lottery wins in August 2026

Summary

In August 2026, Florida lottery players claimed a $803 million Mega Millions jackpot, a $3.25 million Florida Lotto prize and several $1 million Powerball prizes, while state law requires winner information to be disclosed after a brief anonymity period.

Florida lottery officials reported that a ticket sold at a Wawa store in Bradenton won the $803 million Mega Millions jackpot drawn on July 28, 2026. The winner selected the estimated $344.2 million cash option and, under state law, the winner’s name and residence will be released after a 90-day confidentiality window.

A separate $6 million Florida Lotto jackpot was claimed by a ticket purchased at a Sunoco station in Lakeland on August 5, 2026. The winner took a lump-sum cash prize of $3,251,148 and will also be subject to the same temporary anonymity provision.

Florida ticket holders also secured multiple second-tier Powerball prizes in August. A Circle K in Lakeland sold a ticket that matched five numbers for a $1 million prize in the August 8 drawing, and a Racetrac in Fort Myers did the same in the August 12 drawing, which featured a $1.04 billion jackpot that remained unclaimed as of mid-August. Additionally, a Publix in The Villages sold a ticket that won $1 million in the August 17 drawing.

State law mandates that the Florida Lottery disclose the winner’s name, city, game, date and prize amount to any requesting party, though winners of $250,000 or more receive a 90-day exemption from public disclosure unless they waive it.
