Dolly Parton's niece confirms private burial beside husband in Nashville
Dolly Parton was interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville on August 28, next to her late husband Carl Dean, after a small family funeral.
Dolly Parton's niece, Lainey Mae Parton, posted on Instagram that the singer-songwriter was laid to rest on August 28 at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville. The private ceremony was attended by immediate family members and followed Parton's request for an intimate service.
Parton, who died on August 25 at age 80 after a brief cancer battle, was buried beside her husband of 60 years, Carl Dean, who passed away in March 2025. In a 2014 interview, Parton had said she wanted the gospel song "If We Never Meet Again" played at her funeral, a tune she also sang at her father's service.
Lainey Mae Parton expressed her grief in the Instagram post, recalling how her grandmother encouraged her dreams and noting she would miss Parton's voice, laughter and presence. Parton's nephew Brian Seaver also shared a video tribute, saying she deserved a comfortable final resting place after a career marked by elaborate stage costumes.
