Melinda French Gates pledges to double Daisy Chain Fields fundraiser to $20 million
Singer Olivia Rodrigo announced that Melinda French Gates will match donations raised at the Daisy Chain Fields festival, bringing the total contribution to $20 million for ten women-focused charities.
Olivia Rodrigo said that Melinda French Gates will match the $10 million raised at the Daisy Chain Fields music festival, increasing the total donation to $20 million for ten women-focused nonprofit organizations. The festival, held in 2026, featured performances by artists such as Chappell Roan, Mitski, and Stevie Nicks, and was promoted as a benefit for charities supporting women and girls.
Rodrigo thanked the participating musicians for performing without fee and expressed gratitude to ticket buyers and sponsors for helping reach the initial $10 million target. She noted that the funds will be split equally among Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center and Planned Parenthood.
"The organizations we’ve partnered with are doing incredibly important work every single day in the U.S. and globally," Rodrigo said at a press conference.
"I really believe that giving women the tools to decide their own futures and live healthy lives free of violence and discrimination is the most effective tool we have at changing the world for the better," she added.
"Melinda is one of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met. She’s devoted her life to empowering women and girls that might have otherwise been forgotten," Rodrigo said of Gates.
The pledge was announced before Rodrigo’s headlining set, and Gates’ contribution will double every dollar raised at the event.
