Memphis faces UNLV as Week 0 college football concludes
Week 0 of the college football season wrapped with Memphis traveling to play UNLV, while other opening games saw North Carolina beat TCU and USC dominate San Jose State.
College football opened with a limited slate of eight FBS games on Saturday. In Dublin, North Carolina defeated TCU 15-10 in a rain-soaked contest that featured only two first-half touchdowns. USC, ranked 14th, beat San Jose State comfortably, with quarterback Jayden Maiava throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns before the team eased off in the second half. In ACC action, Virginia routed NC State 34-8 as freshman quarterback Beau Pribula contributed 110 rushing yards and 155 passing yards with two scores. Florida State secured a narrow win over New Mexico State later in the day.
The final game of the opening slate saw Memphis travel to Las Vegas to meet UNLV. Memphis head coach Charles Huff made his debut after leading Southern Miss to a 7-5 record last season. UNLV entered the matchup as the preseason favorite in the Mountain West and a contender for a Group of Six College Football Playoff spot. The game concluded the Week 0 schedule, marking the start of the 2024 college football season.
