Niece Confirms Dolly Parton's Burial at Nashville Cemetery
Lainey Mae Parton announced on Instagram that her aunt, Dolly Parton, was laid to rest on August 28 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, with a simple ceremony overseen by family.
Lainey Mae Parton posted on Instagram Saturday confirming that her aunt, Dolly Parton, was buried on Friday, August 28, at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville. The post included a slideshow of family photos and a personal tribute to the late singer.
"This is a really hard post for me to make," Lainey wrote, adding that she waited until after the burial to share her thoughts.
According to sources, the funeral was a modest service arranged by Parton's nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, in accordance with the star’s wishes for a simple ceremony. Parton, who died at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer, was interred beside her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away in March at age 82.
Family members said Parton had expressed a desire to be buried in a cotton dress and her signature stilettos, describing the choice as a comfortable contrast to her stage attire.
Lainey praised her aunt’s supportive influence, noting that Parton made her feel “enough” and encouraged her dreams. She also reflected that she could not recall any negative memories with her aunt, emphasizing the close bond they shared.
