Apple is set to launch the Watch Ultra 4 on September 9, featuring doubled sensor components, a new S-class chip and potential design tweaks, according to multiple industry sources.

Apple is slated to unveil the Watch Ultra 4 on September 9. Industry reports say the device will include a substantial increase in health-monitoring hardware, with the number of sensor components reportedly doubling. The upgrade is expected to enhance fitness tracking and may introduce a new high-blood-pressure feature that has been reviewed by the FDA.

Analysts also indicate the Ultra 4 will be powered by a next-generation S-class processor, likely labeled S11 or S12, marking the first performance boost for the chip line since 2023. The timing coincides with the rollout of Siri AI in watchOS 27, suggesting the new CPU could improve on-device artificial-intelligence capabilities.

There are conflicting reports about the watch’s exterior. While one source suggests a redesign, another notes that no major design overhaul is planned for this year’s models. A ceramic case option is confirmed for the Series 12, and a similar material may be offered for the Ultra 4.

"Upgrades to fitness tracking" are expected, according to analyst Mark Gurman.

"None of this year’s watches is expected to get a major design overhaul," Gurman added.

The device is positioned to strengthen Apple’s health-focused wearables portfolio and could become the first mass-market smartwatch with integrated AI features.
