Apple unlikely to unveil several rumored devices at September 9 event
Apple's September 9 "Surprise and Shine" event is expected to focus on iPhone 18 Pro models, a foldable iPhone, new Apple Watch versions and possibly AirPods 5, while several other rumored products are not slated for announcement.
Apple will hold its annual fall event on September 9, where analysts anticipate the company will introduce the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, a first-generation foldable iPhone, the Apple Watch Series 12, a fourth-generation Apple Watch Ultra and possibly AirPods 5. The company may also reveal additional accessories, but several devices that have been the subject of speculation are not expected to appear.
The standard iPhone 18 is not slated for the September launch; Apple is reportedly shifting to a split-launch strategy that reserves the regular iPhone for a spring release next year. Analysts note that the iPhone 18 Pro models could feature a 2-nanometer A20 chip, up to 12 GB of RAM, a 24-megapixel front camera and a refined display with a smaller Dynamic Island.
A second-generation iPhone Air, which underperformed after its 2025 debut, is also expected to be delayed until spring 2027. Rumors suggest the future model may add a second rear camera and an improved battery, while using the A20 Pro chip.
The entry-level Apple Watch SE is not projected to receive an update in 2026, and no new version has been confirmed.
Apple’s Mac lineup is likewise unlikely to be featured. An updated 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip is rumored for late 2026, followed by a redesign of the high-end MacBook Pro line in late 2026 or early 2027. New iMac models with M6 chips and refreshed colors are also expected later, but Apple typically reserves Mac announcements for an October press event.
Other products such as a new iPad mini, Apple TV, HomePod mini, or a home hub may be introduced separately in the coming months, but are not expected to dominate the September showcase.
