Three-time Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck announced his trade request for the Winnipeg Jets as the NHL training camp approaches, while the organization said it is handling the matter without an update.

Connor Hellebuyck, a three-time Vezina Trophy recipient, said in a statement released by his agent that he had asked the Winnipeg Jets for a trade several months ago and is now making the request public as training camps begin on Sept. 16.

"I have tried to handle the situation quietly and respectfully while giving the organization time to explore its options," Hellebuyck said. "With training camp approaching, I felt it was important to publicly confirm my request. My position has not changed. I believe moving on is the best path forward for me and my family."

The Jets, who open preseason on Sept. 19 and host the Boston Bruins on Oct. 2, have not provided a timeline for any potential move. General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said the club is listening to trade offers but offered no further details.

"Connor has been open with us about his desire for a change. He has been an important part of the Winnipeg Jets organization for many years, and we have tremendous respect for what he has accomplished here. While we will continue to work through the situation in a thoughtful manner, there is no update at this time," Cheveldayoff said.

Hellebuyck finished last season with a 23-23-11 record, a 2.86 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage in 57 games, as Winnipeg missed the playoffs by eight points. He previously highlighted concerns about the team's ability to acquire needed pieces and win the Stanley Cup.

In the 2024-25 season, Hellebuyck posted a 47-12-3 record, a 2.00 GAA, .925 save percentage and eight shutouts, earning the Hart and Vezina trophies and helping Winnipeg capture the Presidents' Trophy. He is entering the third year of a seven-year, $59.5 million contract signed in October 2023.

The Jets recently added goaltender Stuart Skinner on a two-year deal and have a prospect, Domenic DiVincentiis, developing in the AHL. Hellebuyck expressed appreciation for Jets fans and hopes for a swift resolution.
