Body camera video shows 49ers owner Jed York arrested in Ohio

Summary

San Francisco 49ers principal owner Jed York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio on Aug. 23 on misdemeanor charges that were later reduced through a plea deal, and the incident was captured on police body-camera footage.

Police body-camera footage released by the California Post shows the arrest of San Francisco 49ers principal owner Jed York in East Palestine, Ohio, on the morning of Aug. 23. The video, which began recording at about 9:58 a.m., captures an officer approaching York’s gray SUV, ordering him to exit the vehicle, and placing him in handcuffs after York repeatedly asked what was happening.

York was initially charged with misdemeanor counts of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. A plea agreement later reduced the prostitution charge to disorderly conduct, and York pleaded no contest to the possession charge, which authorities said related to the cell phone used to arrange the meeting. He was fined $1,150, forfeited $160, and spent one day in jail.

The Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force alleges York used an alias on a prostitution website to arrange a meeting with an undercover officer, offering $140 for sexual activity. During the arrest, officers displayed cash and commented on the ease of the operation.

The NFL said the matter will be reviewed under its personal conduct policy, while the 49ers said the legal issue has been resolved and declined further comment.
