Eagles wrap up training camp with light practice ahead of final preseason game

摘要

Philadelphia held its final training-camp session, featuring limited drills and a walkthrough, as the team prepares for the last preseason matchup and roster cuts.

Philadelphia held the last day of its 2026 training camp on Thursday, conducting a light practice that combined limited drills with a walkthrough for backup players. The session preceded the final preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals and the upcoming 53-man roster reductions.

Wide receiver Makai Lemon saw a few targets in the practice and participated in the backup-unit walkthrough, suggesting he may play in Friday night’s game. DeVonta Smith was highlighted as the team's primary receiver, with Dontayvion Wicks projected as the secondary option. The coaching staff discussed the competition for the third receiver spot, naming Lemon, Hollywood Brown, Darius Cooper and Elijah Moore as candidates.

Quarterback Tanner McKee is expected to start the upcoming preseason contest, while veteran Jalen Hurts received additional work after practice. Hurts also addressed his eight interceptions during camp, noting they reflect his adjustment to a new offensive system.

Defensive coach Vic Fangio said the decision on the starting safety is “close,” noting Michael Carter’s progress but acknowledging the need for more exposure. He added that Carter’s versatility, able to play safety or slot corner, could influence the competition with Marcus Epps.

Seventh-round rookie Keyshawn James-Newby, who missed most of camp with an ankle injury, returned to full participation and recorded a sack on the edge, drawing attention from coaches.

Special-teams units practiced a missed-field-goal return, with Will Shipley positioned deep in the formation. The Eagles concluded the day with a brief recap of the camp’s progress before the final preseason game.
