Prominent Democrats condemned Hasan Piker after he warned that American Jews could face violence for perceived support of Israel, calling his comments dangerous and antisemitic.
Prominent Democrats have publicly rebuked far-left streamer Hasan Piker for suggesting that American Jews could become targets of violence if they are seen as strongly supporting Israel. The remarks followed a recent stream in which Piker displayed an image of Michigan state Sen. Jeremy Moss, a Jewish Democratic congressional candidate, and warned that “if Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone is going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the claim “dangerous, malicious and antisemitic” and said it should not be tolerated in public discourse. Rep. Brad Schneider labeled Piker an “unapologetic antisemite” and said his statements have no place in American politics. Sen. Elissa Slotkin emphasized that no community should face threats for its political views, rejecting any blame placed on Jewish Americans.
Other Democratic officials, including Rep. Haley Stevens, Sen. Cory Booker, Rep. Josh Gottheimer, and DNC Chair Ken Martin, also condemned the comments as hateful and without merit. Gottheimer, who co-authored a bipartisan resolution condemning antisemitic rhetoric from Piker and others, called the remarks “right out of the Nazi playbook.”
Michigan officials, such as Sen. Mallory McMorrow and Rep. Hillary Scholten, criticized Piker’s rhetoric as extremist and unacceptable. Sen. Jeremy Moss, who was directly referenced in the stream, said there is “no room for extremism in Michigan.”
The backlash reflects a broader effort by Democratic leaders to distance the party from Piker’s provocative statements and to reaffirm a stance against antisemitism.
