Packers and Cardinals conclude joint practice ahead of preseason finale
Green Bay and Arizona wrapped a two-hour joint training session on Wednesday, with both teams taking Thursday off before meeting Friday at Lambeau Field for the preseason finale.
Green Bay and Arizona finished a two-hour joint practice at Ray Nitschke Field around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26. The teams will have a day off on Thursday before playing the preseason finale on Friday, August 28, at Lambeau Field.
The Cardinals dominated several two-minute drills, scoring a 20-yard passing touchdown and converting a two-point attempt. Arizona’s defense also intercepted Packers quarterback Tyrod Taylor after a deflection and forced multiple turnovers, including a pick by safety Murvin Kenion III and another by cornerback Brandon Cisse.
Packers offense struggled in its own two-minute drill, with a dropped pass by receiver Matthew Golden and a penalty that ended the drive. Quarterback Jordan Love threw two interceptions during the session, one of which was returned by linebacker Zaven Collins.
Physicality increased as players exchanged hard hits and brief scrums. Tight end Tucker Kraft, returning from a torn ACL, took a hard hit from safety Andrew Wingard and later shoved a Cardinals player, prompting a minor confrontation. Both teams’ coaches, Matt LaFleur of the Packers and his brother Mike LaFleur of the Cardinals, oversaw the practice, marking a rare sibling matchup on opposing sidelines.
Injury updates showed several Packers on the PUP list, including OLB Micah Parsons (knee) and TE Luke Musgrave (neck), while DB Javon Bullard returned from a foot injury. The joint practice serves as a final preparation before the Packers’ regular-season opener on September 13.
