Actor Tim Curry, best known for playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic "Rocky Horror Picture Show," died peacefully at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, on Tuesday, according to his longtime manager Marcia Hurwitz. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed a death investigation report for an 80-year-old man at the residence, though it did not name Curry publicly. The cause of death has not been released.
Curry, who also portrayed Wadsworth in the film adaptation of "Clue" and the clown Pennywise in the 1990 TV movie version of Stephen King’s "It," had been dealing with health issues since a 2012 stroke left him partially paralyzed. His career spanned more than five decades and included stage work, film, television and voice roles, earning three Tony nominations and a Daytime Emmy for voicing Captain Hook.
"He was a dear friend. I was blessed to know him," Carol Burnett wrote on Instagram, recalling their work together on the 1982 musical "Annie."

Friends and former co-stars, including Lesley Ann Warren, Rob Schneider and Jonathan Lynn, expressed condolences on social media. Curry is survived by his nieces Kate Lewis and Julia, his nephew Mark Lewis and several great-nieces and great-nephew.
