Apple schedules September event to unveil iPhone 18 Pro lineup and first foldable model

Résumé

Apple will host a product launch on September 9 to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, as well as its inaugural foldable iPhone, dubbed iPhone Ultra, alongside updates to its Watch line.

Apple announced that its next product event will be held on September 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The company plans to reveal the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which are expected to keep the same chassis dimensions as previous models while adding a variable-aperture main camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, and a new C2 cellular modem. Four colour options – dark cherry, black, silver and light blue – are rumored for the Pro devices.

The headline announcement is expected to be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, reportedly called iPhone Ultra. The device is said to use a book-style hinge with an outer display of about 5.3-5.5 inches and an inner display of roughly 7.6-7.8 inches. Reports suggest a titanium frame, a thin profile, a virtually crease-free screen, Touch ID integrated into the power button, two front-facing cameras and a dual rear-camera system. Pricing estimates range from $1,999 to $2,500.

Apple is also expected to update its wearable lineup with the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, focusing on new processors and health features rather than major design changes. An AirPods 5 model is anticipated, while a new AirPods Pro with visual intelligence is slated for a later release. Additional hardware, including updated Mac mini and Mac Studio desktops, is scheduled for a September 22 launch.

The event will be streamed on Apple’s website, YouTube and the Apple TV app, with a prerecorded presentation and press attendance at Apple Park in Cupertino. John Ternus is set to assume the role of CEO on September 1, with Tim Cook transitioning to executive chairman.
