49ers CEO Jed York arrested in Ohio after contacting alleged prostitution service

Resumen

Jed York, chief executive of the San Francisco 49ers, was taken into custody in Ohio after using a false name to arrange a meeting with a person he believed to be a prostitute, authorities said.

San Francisco 49ers chief executive Jed York was arrested on Sunday at an Ohio trailer park after police say he used a pseudonym to contact a service he thought was offering prostitution. According to an incident report, York was found with $160 in cash at the time of his arrest. The NFL said the matter will be examined under its personal-conduct policy.

York, who became the team's principal owner after purchasing shares from his mother Denise York, has been dealing with personal issues, including a recent divorce filing from his wife Danielle Belluomini. The 49ers, valued at $8.5 billion by Forbes and ranked fifth among NFL franchises, have not commented on any impact to team operations.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that the incident does not affect the team's football activities, stating, "From a football standpoint, it has no effect on us. I mean, as far as what we do day to day, what we talk about and [it] hasn't been mentioned in a meeting today, it doesn't have to do with what happens on the field."

York assumed the role of CEO in 2008 and became the principal owner in 2024. The team has faced a challenging preseason, including a recent head-on collision involving Shanahan, who sustained injuries but remains active in his coaching duties.
