Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar posted a clip of Dolly Parton praising 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and recalled the singer's behind-the-scenes support, following Parton's death at age 80.

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar posted a video of Dolly Parton speaking about the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," which aired from 1997 to 2003. Parton, who died at 80, said on Andy Cohen’s "Watch What Happens Live" in July 2021 that she was proud of her involvement through Sandollar Productions, the company she co-founded with manager Sandy Gallin, which was listed in the show’s end credits.

Gellar wrote that being "a small part of the great history of @dollyparton" meant a great deal to her. She also recalled that Parton sent holiday gifts to the cast during the series’ early seasons and later complimented Gellar’s performance, a story she shared on "The Tonight Show" in 2023.

Sandollar Productions had produced the 1992 "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" film and, after its modest box-office results, backed the subsequent television series. Executive Gail Berman noted that Parton had provided an extra paycheck to a female crew member who was underpaid compared with male counterparts, highlighting her support for women in the industry.

Representatives for Parton confirmed her death in a statement that praised her seven-decade career, music, philanthropy and influence on multiple generations. The statement described her legacy as one of love, compassion and resilience.

Other entertainers, including Reba McEntire, issued tributes, describing Parton as a friend with a “huge heart” and expressing gratitude for her contributions.
