Montgomery County identifies man killed in Upper Pottsgrove officer shooting

Résumé

A 22-year-old man was shot by police in Upper Pottsgrove Township after a 911 call about a possible break-in; authorities continue to investigate.

Montgomery County prosecutors have identified Glenwood Earl Pysher IV, 22, as the man fatally shot by an Upper Pottsgrove Township police officer early Sunday, Aug. 23. The incident followed a 911 call reporting a possible break-in at a residence on Snyder Road at approximately 12:29 a.m. Police arrived, found a man behind the house and, after an encounter, discharged their weapon, killing Pysher.

Pysher's mother, Erin Pysher, said her son had mistakenly entered a backyard he believed was a friend's house and was on a phone call with friends for two minutes before being shot. She described the incident as a tragic mistake and criticized the use of force, stating he was unarmed and not posing a threat.

According to the family, Pysher had recently transferred to St. Elizabeth College in New Jersey to continue playing baseball and study history education. He had turned 22 on Aug. 10 and was preparing to begin his senior season.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said the investigation remains ongoing and will issue further updates when completed.
