49ers owner Jed York arrested in Ohio after arranging prostitution meeting under alias

Résumé

Jed York, owner of the San Francisco 49ers, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges after being arrested in Ohio for attempting to hire a prostitute using the name "Joe".

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested in Ohio on Sunday after police say he used an alias to arrange a meeting with a woman advertising prostitution services. Detectives noted that York first contacted the woman on Saturday, introducing himself as "Joe" and indicating he wanted to visit her. After receiving no response, he sent a follow-up message early Sunday, asking if she was available and requesting an address and the hourly rate.

According to the police report, the woman quoted $160 for an hour, plus a $20 surcharge for unprotected sex, which York accepted. He was reportedly traveling from Boardman to East Palestine in an Avis rental car and arrived at a trailer park at 9:35 a.m. ET with $160 in cash. A test text confirmed the iPhone used to arrange the encounter belonged to York.

York entered a no-contest plea to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools, receiving a sentence of two days in jail and a $1,150 fine. He has not commented publicly since the arrest. The NFL announced it is reviewing the case under its Personal Conduct Policy, with league owners scheduled to meet in Atlanta on Wednesday.

"York messaged the female and advised that his name was Joe and that he would like to visit the female," detectives wrote in an official document. "York advised that he was just checking in, and was seeing if the female was available," the report added. "York asked if the female was free, and that he would love to come see her," the document stated.
