49ers CEO Jed York faces divorce and prostitution charge after Ohio arrest

Summary

Jed York, chief executive of the San Francisco 49ers, filed for divorce and was arrested in Ohio on a prostitution sting, later pleading no contest to a reduced charge.

San Francisco 49ers chief executive Jed York filed for divorce from his wife of 15 years on May 11 in Santa Clara County, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking joint custody of their two sons, aged 13 and 10. York’s spouse, Danielle Belluomini, responded on June 30, confirming the marriage was ending.

In August, York responded to an online advertisement that law enforcement had placed as part of a prostitution sting in Mahoning Valley, Ohio. According to a police report, he messaged the ad using a false name, arranged a meeting at a mobile home park in East Palestine, and offered $160 for sexual services. Police stopped him at the trailer park on August 23, seized the cash and his phone, and arrested him on charges of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools.

York later negotiated a plea agreement, pleading no contest to a reduced disorderly-conduct charge and the criminal-tools charge. He received a one-day jail sentence, credited for time served, and was fined $1,150. The 49ers issued a brief statement noting the matter was resolved legally and declined further comment. The NFL announced it was reviewing the case under its personal-conduct policy.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed the situation in a press briefing, saying, "I got a lot of respect for Jed. I got a lot of respect for Danielle. Their family does mean a lot to me. With it being this personal I’m trying my very best to keep it that way."
