Prince Harry resigns from African Parks board amid governance refresh

सारांश

Prince Harry has stepped down from the board of African Parks after six years as its president, citing continued support for the charity’s mission as the organization undergoes a board renewal.

Prince Harry announced his resignation from the board of African Parks, a wildlife conservation charity, after serving as its president for six years and joining the board in 2023. A spokesperson for the duke confirmed he remains a supporter of the charity’s mission.

"The Duke is proud of his 10 years with African Parks and fully supports the ongoing strengthening of its board," the spokesperson said.

The departure follows a recent independent investigation that found guards employed by the charity had beaten, raped and tortured indigenous people in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park in Congo-Brazzaville. African Parks said it had improved safeguarding processes in the park and across the organization in 2025.

In a statement, the charity thanked Harry for raising global awareness of biodiversity protection and for his role in the 500 Elephants project, which involved moving elephants from a Malawi park to bolster populations in heavily poached areas.

Harry’s resignation coincides with his relocation from California to the United Kingdom with his wife and children, and with the couple’s enrollment of their children in a British school for the upcoming term. No change is expected to his and Meghan’s official status, and they will continue to be private individuals.
