Police shooting in Upper Pottsgrove kills 22-year-old after he entered wrong house
A 22-year-old man was shot by Upper Pottsgrove police after mistakenly knocking on a stranger's door late Saturday night; the incident is under investigation by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.
Upper Pottsgrove, Pa. – Police officers opened fire on 22-year-old Glenn Pysher shortly after midnight on Saturday, killing him at a residence where he had mistakenly knocked, according to his parents. Pysher had been celebrating a friend’s birthday at a local bar and later walked to what he believed was his friend’s house. He knocked on the door, thinking it was his destination, but the occupants called 911, prompting a police response. Surveillance cameras in the backyard captured the encounter, and the footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation, though it has not been released to the media.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is handling the investigation, and officials have not yet explained why the officer discharged his weapon. Pysher was unarmed, carrying only a cell phone and a backpack at the time of the shooting.
His mother, Erin Pysher, described her son as a student-athlete who had recently transferred to Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey and was preparing to play baseball. She said he was a “lovable goofball” who often greeted his mother with the phrase, “Hey mom, your favorite kid is home.”
The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not provided further details about the officer’s actions.
