Cowboys evaluate backup quarterback options after Milton's strong preseason showing

Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said the race for the backup quarterback position is still undecided after Joe Milton delivered a strong preseason performance. Milton started the game against the Arizona Cardinals, completing nine of 13 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown before being replaced by Sam Howell, who threw for 65 yards and an interception. Milton later returned to the field in the preseason opener and was praised by Schottenheimer for delivering "two good halves" on Saturday. The coach added that the team will have additional training camp days in Frisco to continue evaluating both players, noting, "We’ve got to give Joe his credit, he’s played really well the past two games, but we have a lot of confidence in Sam as well."
