Norris wins Dutch Grand Prix as Antonelli leads most of race
Lando Norris claimed victory at Zandvoort after overtaking Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli late in the race, while Max Verstappen crashed on the opening lap but escaped injury.
Lando Norris secured the win at the Dutch Grand Prix, overtaking Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli with 15 laps remaining to claim his second consecutive victory of the season. Antonelli had led for most of the 72-lap race after passing both George Russell and Norris following a 40-minute red-flag period caused by Max Verstappen’s high-speed crash on the opening lap. Norris pitted earlier than his rivals, gaining fresher tyres that allowed him to close the gap and pass Antonelli at turn one on lap 54.
Max Verstappen’s accident occurred when his car lost rear grip on a damp section of the track, striking the barriers and breaking apart. He emerged unhurt after the incident.
Finishing on the podium, Antonelli took second place and Russell third. Lewis Hamilton completed the top five, followed by teammate Charles Leclerc, while McLaren’s Oscar Piastri finished sixth.
The result extended Norris’s challenge in the drivers’ championship, reducing his deficit to Antonelli, who now leads the standings by 59 points. Norris remains 83 points behind the leader.
