Eagles running back Ja'Quinden Jackson stable after kickoff injury, CT scan negative
Ja'Quinden Jackson was reported awake with full movement and a negative CT scan following a head injury on the opening kickoff, according to his agent.
Ja'Quinden Jackson, a running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, was taken to a local hospital after a collision on Saturday night’s opening kickoff left him unconscious. The incident occurred when Jackson dove at the legs of Patriots running back Lan Larison and was struck on the head, causing him to lose consciousness and assume a fencing position with his arms.
Damien Butler, representing Jackson through CMV Sports, said in a statement that the player is "awake, has full movement and use of all four limbs, and his CT scan came back negative." He added that the Eagles’ medical staff and first responders acted quickly to provide care.
Medical personnel placed Jackson on a backboard and stretcher before transporting him to the hospital for evaluation. Butler did not specify whether Jackson remains hospitalized or will travel with the team.
"Tonight, above everything else, we thank God that Ja’Quinden is doing well after what was an incredibly frightening moment," Butler said. "What happened tonight was frightening for everyone who witnessed it, and we are extremely grateful to the Philadelphia Eagles medical staff and all of the first responders who acted quickly and took great care of Ja’Quinden in those critical moments."
