Alisa Goods, 63, who disappeared in Las Vegas on Aug. 8, was found dead near Harry Reid International Airport, authorities said, after her family reported mysterious Bitcoin-related texts from her phone.

Las Vegas police said a 63-year-old New York woman who vanished on Aug. 8 has been identified as Alisa Goods and was found deceased in a drainage area near the Terminal 1 parking garage at Harry Reid International Airport. The discovery follows a missing-person report filed on Aug. 10 after Goods was last seen leaving a friend’s apartment on Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue.

Surveillance footage from the day of her disappearance shows a woman matching Goods’ description falling down an embankment, standing up and later collapsing, with no further movement recorded. Additional video captured her near the airport later that afternoon.

Goods had been staying with longtime friend Roger John, who said she left his apartment around 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 8 to take a bus to a CVS for iron pills and never returned. He noted she often spent hours shopping, which initially did not raise alarm.

Family members said they began receiving unusual text messages from Goods’ phone on Aug. 12, requesting gas money and Bitcoin despite Goods not owning a car. The source of the messages has not been determined.

"Our hearts are broken. We were notified that my aunt was found—unfortunately, not the way we wanted her to be," said Alana Calloway, Goods’ niece, in a statement to local media.

Police have not released further details about the cause of death, and investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
