Body of Missing 63-Year-Old New York Visitor Identified Near Las Vegas Airport

Résumé

Police say the remains of Alisa Goods, a 63-year-old New York woman who vanished in Las Vegas on Aug. 8, were recovered in a drainage ditch near Harry Reid International Airport.

Las Vegas police identified the body of Alisa Goods, a 63-year-old resident of Brooklyn who was reported missing on Aug. 8 while visiting a friend in the city. Security footage showed Goods falling down an embankment and collapsing out of view from Wayne Newton Boulevard. Her remains were discovered Thursday in a drainage ditch adjacent to a parking structure after a passerby reported a body near the airport, according to a statement from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Investigators noted that after Goods disappeared, a text message was sent from her phone number requesting bitcoin or CashApp payments, which police believe was generated by scammers using spoofing technology. They said there was no indication that Goods was in immediate danger at the time of her disappearance.

The identity of the remains is considered preliminary, and officials have not released the cause or manner of death. Goods' niece, Alana Calloway, expressed the family's grief and thanked the public for their support.

"We just want to thank the public for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers," Calloway said in a statement.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Goods' death.
