Apple's iPhone 18 Pro to feature larger main camera module, in-house modem and new color
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro with a thicker main camera module, its own C2 5G modem, longer battery life and a new Dark Cherry finish.
Apple is slated to launch the iPhone 18 Pro next month with several hardware changes that set it apart from earlier models. Leaker Fixed Focus Digital says the main camera module will be enlarged, adding more than 2 mm to the aluminum alloy back panel, a shift that could make the camera system thicker than previously rumored. > "iPhone 18 Pro will have some of the biggest camera hardware upgrades in the lineup’s history," reported journalist Mark Gurman, noting expectations of a variable aperture among other improvements.
The device is also rumored to incorporate Apple’s second-generation in-house 5G modem, the C2, which is projected to improve battery efficiency, add a privacy feature called “Limit Precise Location,” and enhance signal reliability in weak-coverage areas. Combined with the new A20 Pro processor, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to deliver the longest battery life seen in an iPhone, with regulatory filings suggesting the Pro Max version will house a battery roughly 10 % larger than its predecessor.
A new color option, described as Dark Cherry or Burgundy, will be introduced, marking the first red-toned shade on a Pro-class iPhone. The upcoming model will also feature a redesigned Dynamic Island that is about 35 % smaller than the current version.
