Perez Hilton Hospitalized After Overdose and Self-Inflicted Injuries, Police Report Shows

Résumé

A Miami-Dade police report details that internet personality Perez Hilton was treated for multiple lacerations and an overdose before being hospitalized and placed under the Baker Act.

Miami-Dade County authorities responded to a call at the home of internet personality Perez Hilton, whose legal name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., after a TikTok livestream raised concerns of a possible suicide attempt. Fire-rescue personnel treated him on scene for several cuts and an overdose before transporting him to a hospital.

Hilton's sister, Barbara Lavandeira, told reporters that she found him in the bathroom, naked, with a box cutter and covered in blood. She said she removed his three children from the house, called 911, and attempted to stop the bleeding while waiting for responders. The report notes that Hilton had lost a significant amount of blood but was still able to speak faintly.

According to the incident report, family members had expressed worries about Hilton's mental health in the days before the August 4 incident, citing depression, anxiety and intrusive thoughts following earlier serious health problems, including a March hospitalization for an ulcer, sepsis and emergency surgery for a blood clot.

After the emergency, Hilton was placed under Florida's Baker Act, allowing an involuntary mental health evaluation. His mother, Teresita Lavandeira, has sought temporary custody of his children while he receives treatment, a move described by his sister as a temporary legal arrangement.

TikTok subsequently banned Hilton's account after the livestream. Hilton has not publicly commented on the police report.
