Kurt Sutter Gives Full Blessing to FX's 'Legends' Spinoff
Creator Kurt Sutter said he supports the new limited series 'Legends' and praised its script, while confirming he has no involvement in the project.
FX has ordered a limited series titled "Legends" that will bring back the core cast of the former motorcycle drama for a meta-thriller set at a fan convention. The show, developed by series star Charlie Hunnam and Jonathan Groff, will feature returning actors including Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan and Theo Rossi, with additional cast to be announced.
Kurt Sutter, the creator of the original series, posted on Instagram that he is not involved in the new project and that it does not use the characters or mythology he created. He said the series reflects the legacy of the original show, which he attributes to many contributors.
"I gave Charlie my full blessing. I wish nothing but the best for him in this project," Sutter wrote, adding that he had read the script and found it well done.
Co-star Kim Coates also expressed pride in Hunnam’s role as creator and writer, describing the series as smart, wild, funny and dangerous.
FX Entertainment president Nick Grad said the series showcases Hunnam’s talents as writer, performer and executive producer and serves as a love letter to the original series while offering a meta twist for fans. The production will be handled by FX Productions and 20th Television and will air on FX and stream on Hulu.
