Patriots and Eagles joint practice highlights Maye, Brown and defensive standouts

Summary

The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles held a joint practice on Wednesday, with quarterback Drake Maye leading the Patriots and former Eagle A.J. Brown posting a strong performance, while several defensive players also stood out.

The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles conducted a joint practice Wednesday that resembled a game setting, drawing thousands of spectators. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was the most effective player on the field, completing 4 of 6 passes in 7-on-7 drills and 16 of 19 in 11-on-11 drills, distributing the ball to his top four targets and challenging the Eagles' defense.

Former Eagle wide receiver A.J. Brown, now with New England, led both teams in receptions, recording seven catches during the session, including four in the 11-on-11 drills and multiple downfield connections with Maye.

The Patriots' offensive line, anchored by left tackles Will Campbell and Alijah Vera-Tucker, created openings for running back Rhamondre Stevenson, while the Eagles' defensive line struggled to contain the Patriots' run game, allowing Saquon Barkley to find gaps.

Defensive tackle Milton Williams, also a former Eagle, impressed by disrupting the Patriots' offense and at one point forcing Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson onto the ground.

Patriots safety Craig Woodson recorded two interceptions and a sack, joining cornerbacks Marcus Jones, Kindle Vildor and safety John Saunders Jr. in adding interceptions during the practice.

Kicker Andy Borregales missed his first 33-yard attempt but then converted his next six kicks, including three from beyond 50 yards, two of which were 52-yard field goals and a 57-yard attempt made in simulated end-game pressure.

Other notable contributors included receiver Lan Larison, defensive back DeMario Douglas and defensive end Kyle Williams, each performing well in one-on-one matchups. Conversely, Hassan Haskins fumbled and Kayshon Boutte tipped a pass that was intercepted. The teams will meet again Thursday for the final open practice of the Patriots' training camp, starting at 10:15 a.m. ET.
