Sandra Bullock explains decision to keep partner's ALS diagnosis private

摘要

Three years after the death of her partner Bryan Randall from ALS, Sandra Bullock said she honored his wish for privacy but later found the secrecy isolating.

Sandra Bullup told listeners on the SmartLess podcast on Aug. 17 that she kept Bryan Randall’s amyotrophic lateral sclerosis diagnosis private because he asked her not to share it. She said, "He asked me not to share, I know why he asked me not to." Bullup, who was in a relationship with Randall for eight years before his death at age 57 in 2023, added that following his request "isolated me in the process." The actress, mother of two children, explained that while she initially believed she could manage the privacy on her own, she eventually relied heavily on her sister Gesine Bullock-Prado for support. "My sister was the only one who knew for a while," she said, noting that she usually prefers to keep personal struggles out of the public eye to avoid affecting others. "I don't want to harm others because of what I do. So I think not talking for a while was good."
