Trailer for Survival Thriller 'Whalefall' Shows Protagonist Trapped Inside a Whale
The second trailer for the upcoming film 'Whalefall' reveals the main character, played by Austin Abrams, navigating life inside a whale after being swallowed, with the movie slated for release on October 16.
The latest trailer for the survival drama Whalefall expands on the premise introduced in the first preview, showing protagonist Austin Abrams trapped inside a giant whale after the death of his father, portrayed by Josh Brolin. Directed by Brian Duffield and adapted from Daniel Kraus's novel, the film follows Abrams's character as he searches for answers in the ocean and confronts an hour-long struggle for survival.
The new footage focuses on the internal setting of the whale, raising questions about how the character might escape. Co-stars include Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy and Emily Rudd. The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on October 16.
"It’s funny, I think the things that will get dinged for not being accurate are actually accurate," Duffield said, adding that the production consulted whale experts and took creative liberties only where necessary for storytelling.
The trailer aims to generate interest without revealing key plot details, inviting audiences to experience the film’s unique premise when it reaches cinemas.
