FX Orders Meta Thriller Spinoff "Legends" Featuring Original Sons of Anarchy Cast
FX has commissioned a limited series titled "Legends" that will reunite the original Sons of Anarchy actors playing fictionalized versions of themselves, to stream on FX and Hulu.
FX announced a limited series called Legends that will bring back the original Sons of Anarchy cast, who will portray fictionalized versions of themselves at a fan convention. The premise describes the reunion blurring the line between reality and the show as the characters confront a real-world threat.
Charlie Hunnam will lead the project as writer, performer and executive producer, joined by Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates and Theo Rossi. Additional cast members are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
"When Charlie brought us this inspired idea, we instantly sparked to his bold and entertaining vision," said Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment. "Charlie’s talents are on full display as a writer, performer and executive producer, leading the real-life brotherhood on an adventure that is both a love letter to the series and a fun meta twist on what fans think they know."
The series was developed by Hunnam and Jonathan Groff, with executive producers Rob Mac, Nicholas Frenkel and Jackie Cohn. It will be produced by FX Productions and 20th Television and will be available on both FX and Hulu. The original creator of Sons of Anarchy, Kurt Sutter, is not involved.
Hunnam, who recently earned an Emmy nomination for his role in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, is also working on a BBC adaptation of John le Carré’s Legacy of Spies. Sons of Anarchy, which aired for seven seasons and 92 episodes, was FX’s highest-rated series at the time of its run. The franchise previously generated the Mayans M.C. spinoff, which concluded in 2023.
